South Carolina features some of the best golf courses in the country. Aiken is just a stones throw away from Augusta Georgia, where the world famous Masters Golf Tournament is held annually. In addition to golf, Aiken is rich with equine, hunting, and outdoor sporting activities.

The Aiken Golf Club is a semi-private club featuring 18 pristine Bermuda grass holes. At a par 70, this is one of the nation’s most historic courses. If you continue down the road you will find Houndslake Country Club. This 27 hole course was designed by legendary Joe Lee and boasts 3 restaurants and 5 private banquet rooms onsite. On the outskirts of town lies the Midland Valley Country Club. An Ellis Maples design, 18 hole 71 par course may be just the semi-private club for you to find you favorite back nine. Immersed in soaring pine trees, this 6,595 yard course is the 3rd oldest in the town of Aiken.

One of the flagship communities that True South Communities has been honored to develop is Kings Ridge. This community fits very well into this equine centric community of Aiken South Carolina due to its riding ring, perimeter trails, and equestrian flair. Aiken hosts over 7 stables both private and public. These stables offer boarding, riding and jumping lessons as well as show lessons. Aiken is also the home of the Fulmer International School of Equitation. The Fulmer International School of Equitation offers courses on stable maintenance, riding lessons, and also has a wide array of award winning horses for sale.

Hunting, particularly quail and fox hunting is a large part of the Aiken, SC culture. There are two prominent sites in Aiken for game hunting. The Oak Ridge Hunting Preserve and Aiken Fox Hunts are each fine establishments. Oak Ridge provides a guide, dogs and a jeep for hunting and outbacking. Aiken Fox Hunts leans inexperienced hunters through Hitchcock Woods on an adventurous hunt. Aiken Fox Hunts also holds an annual blessing of the hounds every April.
